FIFA Women’s Champions Cup 2027™ to be played at home of Inter Miami CF

 FIFA Media Release

  • Mexico’s Club América Femenil and Spanish FC Barcelona Femení have already qualified
  • Intercontinental women’s club champions to be crowned in January
  • Last-four showdowns, including bronze final and trophy decider to be contested in Miami

A quartet of the leading women’s clubs on the planet are set to convene in the US city of Miami for the decisive stage of next year’s edition of the FIFA Women’s Champions Cup™.

The last-four encounters, including the bronze final and the tournament decider will be hosted at Nu Stadium, and will determine the winners of the second instalment of the competition following Arsenal Women FC’s triumph in last year’s inaugural iteration.

Miami is no stranger to hosting FIFA’s global events, having provided the backdrop for eight matches at the maiden FIFA Club World Cup™ last year and seven games at the FIFA World Cup™ held this past June and July. The Magic City is now gearing up to welcome women’s football fans from across the globe to Inter Miami CF’s new home, which was opened this past April.

“The FIFA Women’s Champions Cup was created with a clear ambition: to give the best clubs in the world the chance to compete on the global stage every year. Following an incredible first edition that featured an unforgettable final in London, we’re now bringing the world’s top clubs to Miami,” said Jill Ellis, FIFA’s Chief Football Officer.

“The excitement surrounding this competition is already growing, and Miami provides a perfect setting to showcase the quality and global appeal of women’s club football. I can’t wait to see who rises to the occasion and lifts this beautiful trophy.”

Before the action gets under way in Miami, the competition will kick off with the Round 1 tie between the AFC titlists and their OFC counterparts. The winners of that showdown will advance to Round 2, where they will pit their wits against the CAF champions. Further details on these two rounds are provided in the “Road to glory” section below.

The competition will then head stateside to Miami, where the Round 2 victors will face the Concacaf champions in the semi-finals. In the other last-four bout, the UEFA title holders will go head to head with the CONMEBOL conquerors.

Fans will be treated to a mouth-watering double-header on Sunday, 31 January, when the bronze final is set to take place ahead of the trophy decider. The match schedule will be released in due course.

“Our vision is to build on the momentum we have created in South Florida and establish Miami and Nu Stadium as one of the world’s great stages for sports and entertainment,” said Iñigo Aznar, Chief Revenue Officer, Inter Miami CF and Nu Stadium.

“Hosting the final phase of the FIFA Women’s Champions Cup 2027™ is another important step in that journey, bringing the champions of the world’s leading confederations and some of the best women’s footballers on the planet to our new home. We look forward to welcoming fans from Miami and around the world for an unforgettable celebration of the game.”

Road to glory

The FIFA Women’s Champions Cup brings together the six reigning continental champions in a competition that determines the best women’s club team in the world.

Before the final phase in Miami, rounds 1 and 2 will be contested next month and in December respectively. In the tournament curtain-raiser, AFC Women’s Champions League holders Naegohyang Women’s FC will meet Auckland United FC, who tasted glory in the OFC Women’s Champions League earlier this year.

The side that prevail in that contest will square off against the CAF Women’s Champions League winners in Round 2. Whoever comes out on top in that encounter will progress to the final stage in Miami, where they will battle for intercontinental glory with Concacaf titlists Club América Femenil, UEFA Women’s Champions League holders FC Barcelona Femení and the CONMEBOL Libertadores Femenina winners.

Approved by the FIFA Council in May 2024, the FIFA Women’s Champions Cup is held in years when the FIFA Women’s Club World Cup™ is not scheduled. The competition reflects FIFA’s ongoing commitment to expanding opportunities for women’s club football and increasing the visibility of the next generation of female players all over the globe.

East Bengal push for top four spot

AIFF Media Release
Kolkata, Sunday, March 22, 2026: The Indian Super League 2025-26 season continues with a highly anticipated Monday night fixture as East Bengal FC lock horns with local rivals Mohammedan Sporting Club at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan. The match is scheduled to kick off at 19:30 IST.

The match will be streamed live on FanCode and telecast on Sony Sports TEN 2.

The Red and Gold Brigade currently sit sixth in the table with eight points, but will be looking to bounce back from the frustration of their last three matches.

Despite a highly promising start to the season, they were most recently forced to share the spoils in a 1-1 draw against Kerala Blasters FC, after conceding a 92nd-minute stoppage-time goal.

They will face a Mohammedan Sporting side that is searching for a turning point in their season. The Black and White Brigade, navigating their season in the top flight with an all-Indian squad, currently sit at the bottom of the table without a point after suffering four consecutive defeats.

Mehrajuddin Wadoo’s men arrive on the back of a narrow 1-2 away defeat to Bengaluru FC, where a spirited second-half fightback featuring a 51st-minute strike from Mahitosh Roy was ultimately not enough to overcome first-half goals from Ryan Williams and Ashique Kuruniyan.

While the two iconic clubs share a century-old rivalry in Indian football, clashing countless times in historic domestic tournaments, their recent battles in the Indian Super League have seen East Bengal hold the upper hand.

In their two previous ISL meetings, the Red and Gold Brigade have secured a victory and a draw. Their last encounter in February 2025 saw East Bengal claim a commanding 3-1 victory at the VYBK, courtesy of strikes from Naorem Mahesh Singh, Saúl Crespo, and David Lalhlansanga, which overpowered a lone goal from Mohammedan's Franco.

East Bengal will hope to leverage this recent dominance and their stable form, while Mohammedan SC will look to use the immense emotion of the derby to secure their much-needed first victory of the campaign and avenge their previous defeat.

Speaking ahead of the marquee clash, East Bengal FC head coach Óscar Bruzón addressed the team's recent late setbacks while warning against complacency. “Probably lack of concentration in the last minutes and in set pieces has made us drop points. But inside the dressing room, inside the team, our determination, our focus, our commitment is there,” Bruzón stated. Refusing to underestimate their local rivals, he added, “Mohammedan will try everything to collect their first point. I have full respect for them.”

East Bengal goalkeeper Prabhsukhan Gill echoed his coach's unwavering confidence, emphasising the team's overarching ambitions despite recent frustrations. “We have dropped some points, but that doesn't mean that we are not aiming for the top spot still,” Gill explained. Pointing to their strong structural foundation, he noted, “This year in the ISL, we are one of the teams that have scored the most goals and conceded one of the fewest. So we are playing some of the best football this season. It's just a matter of time before results start to come.”

For Mohammedan Sporting, the objective is to channel their underdog status into a historic performance. Head coach Mehrajuddin Wadoo demanded fearlessness from his young Indian contingent. “We have faced challenges this season, but this is the perfect stage to show our character,” Wadoo explained. “East Bengal are a strong team with experienced players, but in a derby, passion and effort can level the playing field. I want my players to go out there without fear, play with their hearts, and fight for our identity in the ISL. We are looking for points as it is a question of our survival in the top tier of Indian football. We will give our absolute best to keep the club alive in the Indian Super League.”

Mohammedan Sporting forward Md Fardin Ali Molla highlighted the squad's relentless motivation. “Results haven't gone our way, but the morale inside the dressing room is still strong. We are united as a family. A positive result in a match of this magnitude can change our entire season. We are ready to give our 100 per cent, fight until the final whistle, and bring home our first points of the season.”

The Monday night clash at the VYBK promises to be a fiercely contested and emotional battle with season-defining consequences. A win will propel East Bengal into fourth position, breathing fresh life into their championship ambitions after their recent string of frustrations.

On the other hand, a victory is desperately required for the Black and White Brigade; three points will not only secure immense city pride but will also lift them above Kerala Blasters and Sporting Club Delhi, offering a crucial lifeline to avoid relegation to the Indian Football League.

India ready for ‘final’ against Chinese Taipei in AFC Women’s Asian Cup

AIFF Media Release

Sydney, Australia, 9 March, 2026:A virtual final awaits the Indian senior women’s national team, as they take on Chinese Taipei in their third and final Group C encounter of the AFC Women’s Asian Cup Australia 2026, at the Western Sydney Stadium in Sydney, Australia, on Tuesday, March 10, 2026. The match will kick off at 14:30 IST, and will be streamed live on FanCode.

India are currently bottom of the group at fourth place with zero points from two matches after having lost against Vietnam (1-2) and Japan (0-11). Japan are at the top of the group with six points from two games, while Chinese Taipei and Vietnam are second and third, respectively, with both sides tied on three points apiece.

However the Blue Tigresses still have a chance to make it to the quarter-finals, should they defeat Chinese Taipei by a margin of two goals or more, and if Japan defeat Vietnam on Tuesday in the simultaneous kick-off. The top two teams from each of the three groups, along with the two best third-place finishers will make it to the last eight.

India head coach Amelia Valverde highlighted the importance of putting the past results behind, after the last two results.

“The two matches (against Vietnam and Japan) were very different. The first thing we have to do is try to turn the page on what has happened as quickly as possible. We need to prepare well for this match, and we have no doubt about that,” said Valverde.

For the Blue Tigresses, the clash against Chinese Taipei is akin to a virtual final.

“We are aware of the importance of the match. We have already turned the page from our previous game, and now have this opportunity, which we must approach with the seriousness it deserves,” she said.

“The players are focused, and we are working on finishing our chances. We know that it is like a final for us,” said Valverde. “They have been working hard to create history for their country for many months. So we must be aware that we have a clear opportunity to qualify and a clear opportunity to finish this phase well, and hopefully achieve it.”

While the India head coach wants her side to play a certain brand of football, she is aware of the threats that Chinese Taipei pose.

“If we reproduce the version of football we showed in the second half of the first match, we will be very close to achieving success. On the other hand, Chinese Taipei are well organised in their style of play,” she said. “They had a very strong defensive phase in their first match and adjusted their formation slightly, but they played a very intelligent game against Japan.

“We need to bring intensity, be a team that want the ball, and try to take it forward into attack. That is one of our advantages, especially considering the abilities of our players, and we will try to make the most of that,” said Valverde.

India midfielder Shilky Devi Hemam echoed the coach’s feelings of the Chinese Taipei match being a virtual final for the Blue Tigresses.

“We have learned our lessons from the last game, and I think this (Chinese Taipei) will be a special match for us,” said Shilky. “It’s a great opportunity for us, and we have to make the most of it.”

Chinese Taipei, on the other hand, have a much easier task. A draw will be enough for them to seal progression to the knockout stage. Head coach Prasobchoke Chokemor, though, is egging his side for a win.

He said, “The team are more confident after bouncing back in the last match, but I must make sure they don’t end up being over-confident. Of course, while we have a good chance of qualifying even with a draw, we will still go on the pitch and play to win the match and not worry about other factors in the other matches.”

While they may be going for the victory, the Chinese Taipei head coach was wary of the Indian threat, especially from forward Manisha Kalyan.

“We don’t expect our tie against India to be easy, as I am familiar with their game. I watched them during the Qualifiers in Thailand, and they are very good. We are particularly focused on containing Manisha Kalyan, who has demonstrated tremendous speed, and our eyes will definitely be on her.”

Indian women routed by Japan 0-11

AIFF Media Release

India - 0

Japan - 11 (Yuzuki Yamamoto 4’, Yui Hasegawa 13’, Hinata Miyazawa 20’, 35’, 81’, Kiko Seike 45+5’ p, 55’, Riko Ueki 47’, 50’, 65’, Maya Hijikata 62’)

Perth, Australia, Saturday, March 7, 2026: The Indian senior women’s national team suffered a 0-11 loss at the hands of Japan in their second Group C match of the AFC Women’s Asian Cup Australia 2026 at the Perth Rectangular Stadium in Perth, Australia, on Saturday, March 7, 2026. The former World Cup and Asian Cup champions led by five goals at half-time.

Japan’s Hinata Miyazawa (20’, 35’, 81’) and Riko Ueki (47’, 50’, 65’) scored a hat-trick each. Kiko Seike (45+5’ p, 55’) scored two, while Yuzuki Yamamoto (4’), Yui Hasegawa (13’), and Maya Hijikata (62’) netted one each.

The Blue Tigresses are currently bottom of Group C with zero points and a -12 goal difference. However, the result is not a killer blow for India, as a victory against Chinese Taipei by a two-goal margin in their final Group Stage match on Tuesday, March 10, will see India finish second in the group and progress to the quarter-finals.

ndia head coach Amelia Valverde made three changes to the starting XI, bringing in Juli Kishan, along with debutants Aveka Singh and Sarita Yumnam, in place of Grace Dangmei, Nirmala Devi Phanjoubam, and Shilky Devi Hemam.

The Nadeshiko got off the blocks quickly and never really let their foot off the pedal, taking the lead in the fourth minute with a quality curler from Yamamoto, who cut inside from the right and placed the ball into the top corner with her left foot.

India had little chance to venture out of their box, playing with five defenders, with Manisha Kalyan the lone figure up top, trying to catch stray clearances to play to her teammates. The Japan defence, however, were quick to nip any fledgling Indian attack in the bud, a trend that lasted the majority of the 90 minutes.

The world number eight team doubled their lead in the 13th minute, when Yamamoto turned provider, swerving past Sanju from the right again, before cutting it back for her captain Hasegawa to score from inside the box. Hasegawa, in turn, became the provider for the next goal, setting up Miyazawa for Japan’s third in the 20th minute.

The Blue Tigresses were well and truly pinned back, with centre-backs Sweety Devi Ngangbam, Juli Kishan, and Martina Thokchom fighting tooth and nail. Goalkeeper Panthoi Chanu Elangbam made a flurry of saves to prevent Japan from inflicting further damage.

However, the 2014 and 2018 Asian Cup champions combined their wingers and midfielders to isolate the India wing-backs and create chances, especially down both flanks. Midfielder Honoka Hayashi, in the 35th minute, slipped one between the lines to Miyazawa, who poked it past Panthoi to score the fourth at the near post.

Seconds before the half-time whistle, Japan were awarded a penalty after the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) deemed Sweety to have committed a foul on Saki Kumagai inside the India box. Seike calmly sent Panthoi the wrong way from the spot-kick.

Not much changed in the second half, as Ueki, who came on as a substitute at half-time, scored two in quick succession, before Seike added the eighth goal with a tap-in.

Just over the hour mark, Hijikata scored the ninth with her header, while Ueki completed her hat-trick in the 65th minute with yet another header from inside the box.

Miyazawa also completed her hat-trick with nine minutes of regulation time left, scoring another tap-in, as Japan’s superior wingplay opened up the Indian defence.

India: Panthoi Chanu Elangbam (GK), Sweety Devi Ngangbam (C), Juli Kishan, Sangita Basfore, Soumya Guguloth (Kaviya Pakkirisamy 73’), Sanju (Astam Oraon 73’), Pyari Xaxa (Grace Dangmei 57’), Martina Thokchom, Manisha (Lynda Kom Serto 88’), Aveka Singh (Babina Devi Lisham 57’), Sarita Yumnam.
